Automate file clean up with rasterREnew Batch Manager

(rasterREnew Overview)

The Batch Manager in rasterREnew contains all the necessary tools for image enhancement and clean-up including deskew, despeckle and image crop. Using your scanned drawings to best advantage begins with a clean and error free image. Viewing scanned drawings and documents and implementing quick file cleanup operations is quick and easy with rasterREnew.

The average e-size drawing can be deskewed, despeckled and cropped in seconds. Not only will your drawing be ready for raster editing very quickly, the reduced file size from enhancement will speed up all future drawing uses.

Clean up can be conducted on individual file basis or, to save time, the process can be automatically applied to all files in a given directory. You specify the source (input) directory where images reside, and a destination (output) directory to place the enhanced images. The command is invoked by selecting the FILE | BATCH MANAGER command from the main menu interface and the batch options are presented to you. Or, type “BATCH” in the command line interface.

Defining the source and destination file locations

source and destination directoriesThe first step is to define the source directory and destination directory for batch processing. Both these directories are required and cannot be the same directory. Click the "Browse"button to navigate to a desired directory.

Unattended vs attended batch processing

batch manager options Batch processing can be administered in an unattended or attended mode. Unattended Mode processes images on a continuous basis with cropping, deskewing, and despeckling. Attended Mode requires user intervention to advance to the next image. Users can crop images by specifying a rectangular region, and can manually define the despeckling criteria. When done, the user selects FILE | SAVE AND LOAD NEXT IN BATCH to continue the process.

Working with Multi-Page scanned documents

raster REnew easily manages multi-page scanned documents. In unattended mode, the Batch Manager applies the file clean up options to all pages contained in a document or drawing. If you have chosen to operate in the manual or "Attended" mode, you will have the option to apply the clean up settings to all pages in the document by selecting "Apply to Forward Page Navigation". This gives the user the option to change the image enhancement rules for subsequent pages in a multi-page document or drawing.
