echive^® Organizer Enhancements

Windham, NH; June 1, 2000– Open Archive Systems, Inc., a software developer and solutions integrator releases an enhancement to its flagship product echive^® Series – electronic archive management software solutions.echive products bring your active and legacy documents and drawings closer to your desktop or network environment allowing visual data organization with virtually instantaneous document search and retrieval.

The new enhancement is geared at solidifying the SurroundSearch^™ system. Any business critical document can be easily located using keyword or property searches. Keywords can be any text in any document or drawing file since echive indexes the entire text content. No manual keyword indexing is needed.

Additional enhancements include automatic property indexing of scanned TIF and Office files (such as author and title), a storage planning tool to help determine the number of CD’s or DVD’s that will be necessary to build an off-line or near-line database, and support of the Media Publishing module.

The echive Series is comprised of four components. With seamless integration, users can select which products meet their specific needs.

• echive Organizer is a superior information organizational tool that provides traditional SQL functionality as well as full text indexing for easy and accurate file location. Customizable property data is automatically assigned into Microsoft AccessTM compatible database files. Then echive incorporates full-content indexing of CAD, existing Microsoft OfficeTM files and scanned documents allowing keyword/phrase searching using the Open Archive SurroundSearch Engine.
• echive Explorer is the client-side application allowing users to search, retrieve, view and print documents stored within the database.
• echive Capture adds the ability to scan office documents using ISIS and Twain drivers for simple incorporation into a database. Built-in OCR/ICR text recognition indexes the scanned files for use with the SurroundSearch engine.
• echive Publisher distributes your database via large capacity media or to the Web. Use any standard Web browser to explore and search a published database using both SurroundSearch and SQL methods. (future release)

echive file support includes large and small format scanned images, AutoCAD®, Microstation®, plot, Microsoft OfficeTM, PDF, HTML and more. Every file type can be stored, indexed and managed in one simple and consistent environment. The complete architecture of echive is designed to be Web-enabled. The upcoming release of echive Publisher will provide the ability to publish to the Web or CD/DVD media.
