Windham, NH; June 1, 2000– Open Archive Systems, Inc., a software developer and solutions integrator releases echive TIFIndexer, an addition to its echive^™ line of desktop search and retrieval software solutions.

echive TIFIndexer is an easy-to-use solution for inputting and indexing TIF files into any database application. The utility rapidly inputs scanned images while applying property fields. Full text indexing can then be automatically applied to each file for accurate search and retrieval functionality.

Any property field (title, author, keyword, category, etc.) can be indexed using keyboard entry or drag-and-drop OCR. For drag-and-drop OCR, draw a box around the raster text of interest, then right click on the appropriate property field (i.e. author) to initiate the Drop OCR command. This places the selected text into that property field.

The resulting TIF files, now located in an Output Directory, can be directly imported into any database application program such as echive Organizer. The user can select to extract each file’s document properties (in the header file) using the file import settings menu. With echive Organizer, all text can also be automatically indexed using the built-in functionality for easy and accurate word/phrase searching.

echive is a series of desktop search and retrieval solutions. With seamless integration, users can select which products meet their specific needs.

• echive Organizer is a superior information organizational tool that provides traditional SQL functionality as well as full text indexing. Customizable property data is automatically assigned into Microsoft AccessTM compatible database files. Then echive incorporates full-content indexing of CAD, existing Microsoft OfficeTM files and scanned documents allowing keyword/phrase searching using our SurroundSearch Engine.
• echive Explorer is the client-side application allowing users to search, retrieve, view and print documents stored within the database.
• echive Capture adds the ability to scan office documents using ISIS and Twain drivers for simple database incorporation. Built-in OCR/ICR text recognition indexes the scanned files for use with the included SurroundSearch engine.
• echive Publisher distributes your database via large capacity media or to the Web. Use any standard Web browser to explore and search a published database using both SurroundSearch and SQL methods. (future release)

echive file support includes large and small format scanned images, AutoCAD®, Microstation®, plot, Microsoft OfficeTM, PDF, HTML and more. Every file type can be stored, indexed and managed in one simple and consistent environment. The complete architecture of echive is designed to be Web-enabled. The upcoming release of echive Publisher will provide the ability to publish to the Web or CD/DVD media.
