The Open Archive Document Service for eCopy ShareScan turns your MFP device into a multi-processing task master with automatic file splitting, naming, indexing and image clean up.

Hands-free batch scanning, barcode handling, background color removal and extensive image clean-up are now available with the Barcode Recognition and the Image Enhancement Services for eCopy ShareScan 4.2. Users can eliminate errors, decrease time at the device and produce the highest quality image possible. These services can work separately or together for bringing intelligence and added efficiency to all of your Quick Connect and other Connector solutions.

There are two services - Barcode Recognition Service and Image Enhancement Service

The Barcode Recognition Service

Split and rename scans with barcodes. It is simple, accurate and efficient!

Automatically split and name your files. Automated file naming, which can include multiple barcodes, date/time and/or page count, creates consistent results and easier document retrieval.

Automatically capture index information. A defined group of index fields, Client ID, Matter and Billing Codes, can use barcodes for publishing directly to supported connectors.*

Route files to a Windows folder. Files are automatically sent to a folder that is named using barcode data; if the folder does not exist, it will be created on the fly.

Image Enhancement Service

Create clear and usable images on the fly. Select from a sophisticated set of image enhancement features that are more commonly found in production scanning equipment. Options include background color and half-tone removal, straighten, remove grid lines, crop, thicken, thin and much more. All image clean-up selections run automatically while scanning.

Image Enhancement can be used with any connector or service that supports eCopy.

OA Service Workflow

Below is an example showing the workflow with the new OA Document Service for eCopy. You'll notice that barcode recognition and image enhancement now work with other connectors for wider market application

Open Archive Utility

The Open Archive Utility, a desktop application for validating barcodes and image clean up settings, is included with the OA Service. This is a very easy to use tool that helps administrators define the settings for optimum results.

Barcode Validation As shown in the example below, the Open Archive Utility highlights all of the pages where barcodes are recognized. The barcode data is also read and presented in the task bar.

Image Clean Up Settings The Open Archive Utility is an easy way to test image clean-up settings. Users can open an image and run various settings and immediately see the impact of these settings. This is especially useful when using clarify (color or half-tone removal) and thicken or thin. These settings can then be transferred to the Image Enhancement Service for processing with eCopy.
