echive®Storage PlannerMake Informed Scanning, Indexing and Media Publishing & Distribution DecisionsThe echive® Storage Planner is a tool to help companies make informed electronic archiving decisions for building large on-line or near-line databases. You input the types of files, sizes and quantities and the Storage Planner will calculate the rest. It supports CD-R, virtual drive and various DVD formats to identify storage options for office and engineering files. <Download echive Storage Planner> |

Step I: Imaging Capacity AnalysisForm 1 will help determine capacity needs for various types of documents. This example uses 15k for checks and the miscellaneous file category and 20-40k for the rest of the files. The calculator will then compute the resulting electronic file sizes. |
||
The Document Image Planneris used to calculate an estimate for archival memory capacity. You provide an estimate for the number of pages that need to be entered into the archival system. This form also takes into account the percentage of documents that are duplex. 10% of documents are duplex in this example. |

Step II: Storage Capacity AnalysisThe media capacity planner determines the amount of media required for the given archival situation. This example calculates a need for 102 standard CD-R's. The can also be run for DVD's, in this case, 13 to 24 disks depending on the DVD format. |
||
Step III: Scanner Analyzer
This scanner analysis example assumes 90% efficiency for the project. This means the scanner is only down 10% of the time for repairs, jams, cleaning, etc. Operator
efficiency (time they will scan vs. index and other related activities) is set at 60%.
