Search and Sort Files

Use full text and property field searching to easily locate your files. What does this mean? You will find and view your information quickly and easily -- read more below:

SurroundSearch is our full text search tool. As you type in the search box, all matching words and phrases are instantly sorted and displayed. The file results are presented in the List Report Viewer (displays files and their property field info).

Place your mouse over each file name and the actual sentence that contains the word/phrase will be displayed. Click on any file to view it without launching its native application. echive will highlight and step through all instances of the search word(s).

Full text searching also has some advanced search options --
Stemming locates the search word regardless of its suffix
Fuzzy Search locates phrases that closely match your specified word/phrase search pattern

Property Explorer^tm is another easy way to locate files. You can search, sort and view your files according to property field values. Property fields are the categories of information created with property field indexing. (Need more info about indexing - read our What is Indexing Tutorial) These property fields are displayed in folders very similar to MS Windows Explorer.

Search using a combination of property fields A pop-up box displays your active property fields. Simply select which combination of fields you want to search for and echive does the rest.

View, Print or Launch

Use the built-in multi-format viewer to preview documents and drawings. Files load very quickly and there is no need to launch the native application. If you used ful text searching, the search words highlighted.

Print the file from within echive or launch the document into MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, or other application for full program functionality.

Redline

Redline is an optional add-on to echive Explorer. Facilitate the communication of thoughts and ideas by adding annotations and notes to drawings and/or documents. The redlines are managed as a separate layer of information and are not a permanent addition to the original document. This ensures that the original condition and content of the document is always preserved.

Redline features

• Redlines are automatically loaded with any document that has redlines. Saving and loading redlines is transparent to the user and requires no user intervention.
• Redlines are saved as a separate layer which preserves the original document, unless they are incorporated into the document using a raster editor (such as rasterREnew).
• Redlines are supported for single and multi-page documents. Each page of a multi-page document can have its own unique redlines.
• CAD-like redline tools are similar to design and drafting tools, such as text, clouds, leaders, arrows and more.
• Highlighter feature calls attention to specific words or sentences.
• Redline attributes are customizable, including color, width, font, fill style, line type and more. Each redline tool has its own definable settings.
• Use rasterRenew to save redlines as permanent changes.
